WALAILAK UNIVERSITY

Walailak University (WU) was established in 1992. It is an autonomous university under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. It is located in Thasala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, a seaside city on the eastern part of southern Thailand. Nakhon Si Thammarat is a historical and a multicultural city. The university, positioning against a beautiful backdrop of mountain scenery, is ranked as one of the top 5 most beautiful campuses in Thailand. The campus is 780 kilometers south of Bangkok, a 2-and-a half-hour drive from the beach resorts of Samui Island, Surat Thani and Krabi, and from the busy commercial center and international airport of Hat Yai.

Nakhon Si Thammarat is well served by daily air, train and bus services from Bangkok, Hat Yai, Phuket, and Malaysia. The University has a total area of 4,000 acres, making it the largest single-campus of any university in Thailand.

WU is a comprehensive research university, offering numerous degree programs in Health Sciences, Science and Technology, Social Sciences, and International Colleges through its 14 Schools in Agricultural Technology, Allied Health Sciences, Architecture and Design, Engineering and Technology, Languages and General Education, Informatics, Liberal Arts, Management, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Political Science and Law, Public Health, and Science. International Programs are also offered by four international colleges (100% taught in English): WU International College, WU International College of Dentistry, Akkhraratchakumari International College of Veterinary Science, and the College of Graduate Studies.

The University offers 84 degree programs: 46 bachelor’s, 21 master's, and 17 doctoral. Currently, the WU has some 2,250 academic and support staff and close to 10,000 students.
